Post-Insanity Break - Week 1 - Monday - Rest Day
When I posted last night, I was off to drink mudslides. It turns out that the mudslides are way too sweet for me, so I switched to vodka & diet cola. For me to find something too sweet is insane!!! I don't know how much I drank last night (it wasn't tons because I'm not hungover) but I know I didn't stuff my face with bad food in my not-give-a-care approach. I'm glad for that at least.
No workout today. It sucks not earning any activity points.
I did spend some time thinking about my fitness and looking at my heart rate monitor settings (to make sure the weight was accurate) but then I noticed my VO2max setting. VO2 is just the amount of oxygen one uses. There are ways to test it and the last time I tested mine, it was using a walking test, and it gave me surprisingly excellent results. But I don't think that can possibly be right. According to my heart rate monitor, I don't burn a lot of calories, and if I were super fit (with the VO2 setting that was there), that would make sense but I'm not super fit. So that walking test cannot be in any way accurate. I calculated my VO2max based on my last 5K and it gave me a much lower number - 10 "points" lower! That does sound better. It's still good but not the superior nonsense that I was getting. And the reason I chose the walking test way back then was because I couldn't run. Now, thanks to Go Far, I can run. I will keep running. So I will use my race stats to calculate my VO2max. Right now, it is 34.89 mls/kg/min. According to the tables on that page, it's good, almost excellent. But on another site, it's only average and not even close to good. Whatever. I need to just focus on increasing that number.
But anyway, I've changed the number in my HRM and I'm going to try to get an Insanity workout in this week to compare the calorie burn.

I did, however, get a mudslide which probably counts as a dessert. But it was the first time in a very long time that I've gone out to eat at a buffet and didn't leave feeling sick to my stomach from all the sugar and excess food. I'm super proud of myself.

Insanity - Week 9 - Saturday - Max Cardio Conditioning
This is it - my last real workout!!! My net burn was 265 calories, good for 3 activity points. I tried to push a bit but my legs are still lead planks.

Confession. I actually did this workout last night. My father-in-law was due to arrive around the same time I would be working out and I didn't want that getting in the way of my exercise. Insanity - Week 9 - Wednesday - Max Interval Circuit
I ended up having some carrot sticks and pepper slices after I posted last night. So, yay veggies!
This was my last go-round with my favorite workout. I really tried to do my best but I was still tired. I absolutely did not want to get out of bed. My net calorie burn was 311, and that's giving me 4 activity points.
And by the way does it sound like Ariel is doing hard-core porn in the middle of those floor switch kicks? That has always distracted me.

Insanity - Week 9 - Tuesday - Max Cardio Conditioning
I'm not a huge fan of this workout and I'm not looking forward to "ending" Insanity on it Saturday. I want to end on a high note, a favorite, before the Fit Test. I might do this one again tomorrow and reverse the remaining workouts. Anyway, it was rough. My net calorie burn was only 252, good for 3 activity points. I'm definitely dragging and ready to be done.

Insanity - Week 9 - Monday - Max Interval Plyo
This is it - the final week. Thank gods.
I have more details about Saturday's 5K results. My time was 27:03, with an 8:44 pace. I was 12 out of 100 females, and 3rd in my age group, 33 out of 179 overall.
Worst workout ever today! I didn't work out in the morning because I was so tired. By the time I was able to get to it in the very late afternoon, I was exhausted and hungry and had a headache. On top of that, I felt crappy all day from the junk I ate yesterday, my mood was gloom (probably as a result of the junk, too!) and I was just feeling completely defeated. I thought I'd feel better after I got the 5K out of the way, because there's only be one week left, but I'm struggling harder than I ever have in terms of motivation. I spent half the workout crying on the floor or heck, even crying while I did the exercises. It sucked. I was never so happy to be finished in all my life. My net calorie burn was only 257, good for 3 activity points, which I don't even feel like I earned.

Insanity - Week 8 - Sunday - Rest Day
I took a much needed rest day. My brother got married today. I started the day off great - a proper breakfast and snack, then I figured, since I wasn't even going to try estimating my points for the reception, it made no sense to bother tracking, and therefore, I could eat whatever I wanted.
I've been eating junk all afternoon and evening. I hate myself.

Insanity - Week 8 - Saturday - Go Far 5K & Fun Run
It was so nice to be able to sleep in until 6:30!!! I woke up but didn't feel rested at all. I was really worried I wouldn't have enough energy for our Go Far 5K & Fun Run. No need to worry though - I beat my last 5K time by almost a minute. I finished in 27:03, with a pace of 8:44. Last month, I did it in 27:51 with a pace of 9:00. Today, I finished 33 out of 177. I don't have the age group breakdown yet though. My net burn for the 5K was 281 calories and for the Fun Run, 83 calories. So, that's 365, good for 4 activity points.

Insanity - Week 8 - Friday - Max Interval Sports Training
I took it a bit easy today because my 5K is tomorrow. I know I won't beat my last time (27:58) but I do want to come in under 30 minutes. My net burn today was 224 - over 100 less than last week's go at this workout. I was taking it easy but not that easy!! I think my heart rate monitor strap needs to be tightened because my heart rate reading kept dropping into the 70s during the rest intervals and not getting up very high during the work intervals. Still, it gets me 3 activity points.

Insanity - Week 8 - Thursday - Max Interval Circuit
This is definitely my favorite workout of the series. Oh, wait, maybe it's Max Interval Sports Training. I don't know - I'll let you know tomorrow. It was as good a workout as I would have liked - I've not been getting much sleep, and my son was up most of the night with a terrible cough. The smoke from the wildfire is really aggravating these kids - I had quite a few hackers when I worked with the after school kids yesterday. Add to the mix my sinus infection, dead as lead legs, and the fact that I am trying to rest up for my 5K in two days, well, let's just say it wasn't my best effort. My net burn today was345, good for 4 activity points.

Insanity - Week 7 - Saturday - Max Interval Sports Training
New workout today. I loved this workout, probably even more than Max Interval Circuit. There's no stretching at the beginning, and there are short breaks throughout. Insanity - Week 7 - Friday - Max Cardio Conditioning
It is getting harder and harder to get through these workouts. I did manage a net burn of 294 calories, good for 3 activity points. I don't have much to say about the workouts anymore.

Insanity - Week 7 - Thursday - Max Recovery & Insane Abs
I hate these two workouts. I won't have Max Recovery again because of my 5K next week andI should have Insane Abs twice more but I'm just not doing it again. I can't. I hate it so damn much. I hate working my core on my butt. It hurts my butt, even with padding, and I just despise this workout. So rather than cry and be resentful for 66 more minutes, I'm not doing it again. Screw it. I don't care. I will do some ab work on my own. Call me a quitter but I'm not doing Insane Abs ever again. The attempt was so half-hearted and I was so angry that I had to do these workouts that I'm not even taking any activity points for them.

Insanity - Week 7 - Tuesday - Max Interval Circuit
I love this workout! It was harder than normal - I'm finding my legs less and less cooperative as this goes along - but my net burn was still good - 384 calories, good for 5 activity points. I had absolutely no problems running with my Go Far kids this afternoon but when it comes to Insanity, I just can't dig any deeper. I am counting down - only 19 more workouts and a 5K.

Insanity - Week 7 - Monday - Max Cardio Conditioning
Tough workout, again. I didn't sleep much last night and couldn't do the workout first thing in the morning. I needed to spend the day waking up enough to do it in the afternoon. I did pretty well, and my net burn was higher than last time, at 328 - good for 4 activity points.

salad (lettuce, tomato, green pepper, carrots, apple) w/ hard boiled eggs, & light dressing & olive oil [10]

Insanity - Week 6 - Sunday - Insane Abs
I had some grapes after I blogged last night...
Weigh in today - 131.5, down 2.5 from last Sunday, and 6.5 since I started Insanity.
It's supposed to be a rest day but due to my schedule, I need to move the smaller workouts (Abs/Fit Test) to my rest days. Only three more weeks to go - it won't be so bad. I still hate ab workouts. I didn't wear my heart rate monitor but I'm taking 2 activity points for it. I actually liked this one better than Cardio Abs.

Insanity - Week 6 - Saturday - Max Interval Plyo
Insanity is killing me. I don't know if I can finish. Today was so difficult. My legs, especially my quads, felt so heavy. I could barely move them. I had to take a break during the warm up, something I haven't had to do since the first week. My net calorie burn today was only 306, for 4 activity points. I feel like I'm dragging. I have energy and my body feels fantastic after the workout and any other time. But during the workout, each leg feels like it weighs a hundred pounds. I just want to get through the next three weeks. I don't even care if I show any improvement over my last Fit Test. I just want to be done.

This is one long ass workout. I love it, but my legs are so damn tired. My burn wasn't nearly as good today as it was Monday - only 382 calories. I'm going to take only 4 activity points for it instead of rounding up to 5, because the effort wasn't as good as it should have been.

I did not wear my heart rate monitor for this, but at 47ish minutes, I will take 3 activity points. I hated this workout. It is my least favorite of the bunch. I haven't done Insane Abs yet, but I'm pretty sure Max Recovery sucks bigger balls.

Bah! This was killer! I had to take quite a few breaks, and I couldn't even do some of the push up varieties. Well, I could, but I'd only get a few reps in because the form was hard to master and I am still having problems with my left thumb joint. Insanity - Week 6 - Monday - Max Interval Circuit
Here comes the fun stuff. An entire hour of ass kicking. Yay. My net burn was 422 calories, good for 5 activity points. I LOVED THIS WORKOUT!!! It was hard as hell but I loved it, loved it, loved it Even at an hour long, it is a keeper!

Insanity - Week 5 - Sunday - Fit Test
And so begins Month 2. I'm supposed to do this tomorrow with an hour long workout but screw that. Here are my numbers:
