P90X - Week 12 - Tuesday

Last night was an intense battle of wills. It was me vs. the toaster strudel. Me - 1, junk - 0. Then it was me vs. the crackers. Me - 2, junk - 0. Finally, it was me vs. Fiber One toaster pastries. Final score: me - 3, junk - 0. It sucked. Truly.

Today was my last Plyometrics workout. I brought it, and burned 416 calories. I know I bitch about Plyo all the time, but it's a keeper. I don't think I want to do it every week, but I won't leave it out of my bag of tricks.

Banana Nut Cheerios w/ skim milk, banana

applesauce cookies

omelet w/ onion, green pepper & salsa, light English muffin w/ jelly

fish sandwich

venison & vegetable soup

bunch of crap...

Four cups of coffee an 80 ounces of water.

P90X - Week 11 - Saturday

Today was Plyometrics, since I couldn't do it Tuesday and did Kenpo instead. It doesn't bother me to jump anymore. I worked harder than I have in a while, probably since Phase 3 started. I burned 408 calories (earning 4 Activity Points). It was fun and exhausting. Since Thanksgiving is next week, I'm going to be thankful that I won't have to do this workout again after Tuesday!

I also did my dive bomber push ups that I skipped on Monday. My body is feeling pretty much 100% so I can stretch and put pressure on my belly now. I'm still paranoid that I'm going to get pregnant. I just can't win.

apple & cottage cheese [3 pts]

turkey & bacon w/ lettuce, onion, green pepper, light mayo & pepper jack cheese on flat bread, apple slices [12 pts]; We went to Subway for lunch. It wasn't really all that filling and I was still hungry an hour later.

carrot sticks & green pepper slices w/ avocado hummus [1 pt]

applesauce cookies [4 pts]; I have a huge jar of unsweetened applesauce and I wanted to get in the mood for holiday baking, so I gave these a shot. I've never had them before. They are good, I guess. I'm not a huge fan of apple desserts. My son will eat them, for sure.

banana [1 pt]

omelet w/ onion, green pepper, cheese & salsa, light English muffin w/ jelly [6 pts]

peppermint patty [3 pts]; I am really proud of myself. I stood in the checkout line at the store forever - I had no choice but to stare at the candy. I really wanted a king size peanut butter anything, but controlled myself and made a rational purchase of 1 peppermint patty.

garden vegetable medley [2 pts]; I passed on a toaster strudel and a grilled cheese sandwich and picked the smarter option. Still, I feel like a pig.

Three cups of coffee [0 pts] and 80 ounces of water.

32 points today. 0 weekly and 17 activity points remaining.

P90X - Week 10 - Monday

Yoga and Plyo (362 calories burned) this morning - 5 Activity Points. There's not really much to say about the workouts. They were typical.

Banana Nut Cheerios w/ skim milk, banana [4 pts]

omelet w/ onion, green pepper & turkey slices, multigrain English muffin w/ jelly [5 pts]

sliced turkey w/ mustard, carrot sticks & green pepper slices, pickle [3 pts]

black bean & corn salad w/ avocado lime dressing [4 pts]

teriyaki chicken w/ mixed vegetables [5 pts]; This was so, so good. I could have eaten the entire batch, but I only had a little bit.

yogurt & candy corn [7 pts]; Don't ask.

Four cups of coffee [1 pt] and 80 ounces of water.

29 points today. 26 weekly and 5 activity points remaining. Damn candy corn.

P90X - Week 9 - Tuesday

I am so off my game this week. First there were yesterday's pitiful workouts. I followed up today with another less-than-stellar performance. I did Plyo and only burned 359 calories, as opposed to the 400+ I normally burn. I felt like I should do another workout, because those numbers blow. I only earned 3 Activity Points today.

Then I sat down and thought about it while I was eating my breakfast. I am doing enough. I don't need to exercise more for weight loss. I'm now 100% committed to exercising for fitness now. So the real question is - do I want to lose any more weight? I don't know. I'm considering a bulk next summer - maybe I should rearrange that and do it in the spring. I just don't know. I definitely want to add some muscle, but I'd have to really drop the amount of cardio I do, and find that fine line between eating enough over maintenance levels, and eating too much. I don't think I'm quite ready for that yet. So maybe I'll wait until summer.

I'm really sore today. You'd think it was the first time I did pull ups and chin ups.

banana [1 pt]

omelet w/ onion, green pepper & salsa, light English muffin w/ light cream cheese & jelly [5 pts]

homemade venison jerky [2 pts]

apple & cottage cheese [3 pts]

mozzarella string cheese, steamed cauliflower w/ light mayo & mustard dressing [3 pts]; I did not want to eat before dinner but I was so hungry, my stomach hurt.

yogurt [3 pts]

turkey sandwich [4 pts]

ground venison, steamed cauliflower w/ light mayo & mustard dressing [5 pts]

Four cups of coffee [1 pt] and 80 ounces of water.

27 points today. 28 weekly and 8 activity points remaining.

P90X - Week 7 - Tuesday

I don't know why I always dread Plyo so much. I wake up, fret about it, and reluctantly start. By the time I'm done with the warm up and first circuit, it's my favorite dvd in the set. I do need to get up earlier so I can eat a better breakfast. Plyo day is the only day I don't get up at 5 AM to work out. All the jumping, I don't want to disturb anyone. I can't eat too much before doing the workout because I'll probably throw up, but a cup of cottage cheese an hour beforehand doesn't cut it. Today I tried to do the 360 degree spin Dom does during one of the 180 degree jump exercises. I managed a couple but I was just too dizzy. It was fun, though. And finally, after 7 weeks, I managed to do Hot Foot for the full minute (both times) without switching to jumping rope. (Hot Foot is hopping on one foot in a "t" for 30 seconds per leg - a lot harder than it sounds) During Plyo, I burned 422 calories (earning 4 Activity Points). I followed up with X Stretch, which catches me up with the ones I skipped, taking a rest day instead. No more skipping X Stretch on Sundays.

cottage cheese [3 pts]

toast w/ jelly [1 pt]

omelet w/ green pepper & salsa [5 pts]; I was out of onions today, and starving, so I threw in an extra serving of egg substitute.

green peppers & baby carrots [0 pts]

chicken breast w/ sweet potato [4 pts]

cookies [4 pts]; I was doing so well today, too :(

cauliflower soup [1 pt]

yogurt [2 pts]

Four cups of coffee [1 pt] and 80 ounces of water.

21 points today. 29 weekly and 8 activity points remaining.

P90X - Week 6 - Tuesday

I did Plyometrics today. My heart rate monitor went wonky a couple times - I think my strap needed to be washed. I burned 403 calories (earning 4 Activity Points). I was tired doing this workout. I didn't want to do it. Well, that's not really true. I never like to start the workout, but once I get going, I'm always glad I did it. Okay, that's not exactly true, either. I hate doing the workout, but once I'm done, I am always glad I did it. And Plyometrics always reminds me that I am absolutely not ready for Insanity.

banana & cottage cheese [3 pts]

omelet w/ onion, green pepper & salsa, toast w/ reduced-sugar jelly [7 pts]

apple & cottage cheese [4 pts]

baby carrots [0 pts]

green & red pepper slices [0 pts]

chicken breast w/ black beans, cheese, corn & salsa on a whole wheat pita [9 pts]

Special K Protein Plus cereal w/ skim milk [2 pts]

Four cups of coffee [1 pt], two cups of tea [0 pts] and 100 ounces of water.

26 points today. 23 weekly points and 8 activity points remaining.

P90X - Week 5 - Tuesday

Big, bad Plyometrics this morning (58 minutes and 410 calories). I actually kind of missed it. I did NOT get up at 5 AM to do the workout. Well, I was up, but there's too much jumping for me to do when my guys are trying to sleep.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I've started meditating again. I did it earlier this year (or maybe it was last year - it's all a blur) and thought it helped me out a lot. So I've picked it up again. I'm listening to John Edward's "Developing Your Own Psychic Powers" stuff - not because I'm particularly interested in my psychic whatever, but because I love his voice. On Sunday night, I did the introductory meditation and last night I did the one that actually focuses on opening your mind to psychic energy.

And it must be working. I was in the kitchen this afternoon, tearing up a cooked chicken. The song "Feed The Birds" from Mary Poppins popped into my head and I couldn't get it out. I finished up in the kitchen and came out to the computer, started Firefox. I checked my Twitter extension and saw this Tweet from Nathan Fillion: "Feed the birds." No kidding.

apple & cottage cheese [3 pts]

banana [1 pt]

turkey bacon, omelet, multigrain English muffin w/ butter (bad, I know!) [8 pts]

rice cakes [2 pts]

tuna salad w/ romaine lettuce, baby carrots, green pepper slices & light dressing [4 pts]

cube steak & jasmine rice [8 pts]

frozen banana w/ chocolate protein powder [4 pts]

Four cups of coffee [1 pt] and 80 ounces of water.

I had to dip into my savings today - 31 points.

P90X - Week 3 - Tuesday

Plyometrics today - 58 minutes and 432 calories. I'm burning quite a bit less than I did the first two weeks. I feel like I'm working out just as hard - I know I'm squatting deeper and jumping higher - and I'm in my zone most of the time. I can't really believe that my body is that good at adapting. I don't know why I bother with the heart rate monitor. I don't use it as a motivational tool to work harder. I do what I do.

Food was really good today. I hit my ranges, and came close on my ratios. Well, sort of. I consider it a good food day. No cravings, lots of protein, excellent planning.

7:05 AM - plum & cottage cheese

10:00 AM - omelet w/ onion, green pepper, light cream cheese & picante sauce

1:00 PM - tuna salad w/ light balsamic vinaigrette dressing & green peppers

3:15 PM - grilled chicken

6:20 PM - turkey bacon, omelet w/ onion, green pepper & picante sauce, Fiber One pancakes w/ sugar-free syrup

8:30 PM - cottage cheese w/ cinnamon & Splenda

Four cups of coffee and 80 ounces of water.

P90X - Week 2 - Tuesday

Big, bad Plyometrics today. I didn't sleep well or long last night, so I was dragging during the workout. I only burned 475 calories and didn't "bring it" as much as I wanted to. I'm also really struggling with my ratios. I may have to just settle for something other than 50% protein, 30% carbs, and 20% fat. I'm so much more comfortable with an even split among them.

And I have to fess up. I ate a quarter of a cheese hot dog and about 3 mini wheats. :( I don't know why this bothers me, but it does. Two weeks ago, it wouldn't have, but now that I am actually trying to be good about following the plan, it annoys me. But I suppose it is further proof that the P90X nutrition plan is not the plan for me. Though, I did hit all my ranges today, and my ratio was pretty close. But I'm not really enjoying food anymore. Time to rethink things.

7:10 AM - apple & cottage cheese

9:15 AM - tuna fish w/ light mayonnaise & romaine lettuce on whole wheat bread

12:15 PM - omelet w/ onion, green pepper & picante sauce

2:00 PM - green pepper slices

3:35 PM - mozzarella string cheese

5:40 PM - roasted chicken breast w/ broccoli & cauliflower

8:20 PM - chicken breast w/ light barbecue sauce

Four cups of coffee and 80 ounces of water.

Carbs - 115 (17 fiber)
Protein - 170
Fat - 35
C/P/F Ratio - 31.6/46.9/21.5

P90X - Week 1 - Tuesday

Plyometrics today. It reminds me a lot of Jillian's Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. Yuck. The workout is 58 minutes long and I burned 481 calories. The program claims people will burn about 600 calories per work out, but I think it's important to know when you're not. If I weighed 20 pounds less, I'd be burning even fewer calories, and it would mess up my deficit. This is why I don't stick to the 1800 calorie recommendation! Ranges are good things.

7:15 AM - apple & cottage cheese

10:30 AM - omelet w/ onion, green pepper & picante sauce

1:00 PM - tuna salad w/ light balsamic dressing; Again, I ignored the 2 cups of salad vegetables rule because I was only using lettuce. I'll make a better salad some other time, but all I have right now is broccoli and green peppers.

3:30 PM - plum & cottage cheese

6:15 PM - broccoli & quinoa crusted chicken fingers

8:30 PM - tilapia & pepper jack cheese

Carbs - 130 (13 fiber)
