Turbo Jam 20 Minute Workout

I took it easy on this one. I didn't work out yesterday because I woke up feeling like total garbage again. I hate when I am sick as a dog, feel great and think I'm over it, just to have my body say "psych, bitch!"  So I did the cardio low impact.

Tomorrow NROL4W starts.

Food:

  • coffee w/ Splenda & French vanilla creamer
  • hummus & pretzels, cheese w/ salami
  • chicken fajita

Feeling better but...

I needed one more day to recuperate. I have my workout ready for tomorrow. Going for a heavy 5x5, because I haven't had DOMS in years.

No workout today

I'm still sick. Or whatever this is. But I expect to be back to it tomorrow.

Turbo Jam 20 Minute Workout

I did not cardio today. I have things going on - emotional shit (and still sick) so I had neither the time, nor the inclination.

Food:

  • coffee w/ Splenda & French vanilla creamer
  • Nature Valley Oatmeal Square

I don't even know what today is

I don't even know what my workout for today was supposed to be. I didn't have time to look. I also didn't have time to eat, so all I had was my coffee and a protein cookie that tasted like Play-Dough.

Meh. I ended up eating a bowl of plain Cheerios and a peanut butter sandwich.

NROL Break In A

I woke up feeling pretty crappy, didn't pack my lunch (which didn't matter because I didn't have time for lunch), and knew I had a ton of ish to do when I got home from work (grocery shopping, put dishes away, harp on my kid to clean his room). Before work, I got in a half assed workout. I didn't increase my weights for the workout this week like I'd planned :(

Workout:

squat - 2 x bodyweight x 15

static lunge - 2 x bodyweight x 15
two point dumbbell row - 2 x 10 lbs x 15

push up - 2 x 15
swiss ball crunch - 2 x 20

Food:

  • coffee w/ Splenda & French vanilla creamer
  • raw vegetables w/ ranch dressing - Be very fucking proud of me. This was my first meal of the day at 8 P.M., when I could have stuffed my face with crackers and chocolate.
  • shrimp & pasta
  • cheese & crackers

Yoga X

Okay, so I didn't bother doing any yoga. I spent the day being pissed off. I ate cinnamon rolls, and that pissed me off even more. I got so mad at myself, I didn't want to eat for the rest of the day, even though I was hungry. And of course, I know that's not how it should be done. I know how to eat healthy. I just lack coping mechanisms when I am overwhelmed by life. And I am extremely overwhelmed right now. So I basically ate dough all day.

NROL Break In B

I kept the weights the same as the first workout - I will increase on the next go round. Ever since last week when I pulled my glute muscle doing Turbo on carpet, my right leg has been a bit dicey.

Workout:

deadlift - 2 x 65 lbs x15

step up - 2 x bodyweight x 15
dumbbell one arm shoulder press - 2 x 10 lbs x 15

close grip lat pulldown - 2 x purple band x 15
reverse crunch - 2 x bodyweight x 15

Food:

  • coffee w/ Splenda & French vanilla creamer
  • chicken biscuit - This was provided by work for our open house today. It was disgusting and I wish I hadn't eaten it.
  • turkey wrap w/ pasta salad - Again, provided by work, and much better than the chicken biscuit. Damn small though :(
  • popcorn
  • apple & cheese
Yeah, that's it.

Cardio Party 1

A 45 minute workout on my day off wasn't really my idea of a good time. I suffered through it, then spent the day watching Netflix.

Food:

  • coffee w/ Splenda & French vanilla creamer
  • eggs w/ toast
  • chicken breast, cheesy potatoes, corn
Meh. Not a great day.

NROL Break In A

I managed to get my workout in before work. The second A workout was pretty much the same as the first. I still don't feel like I'm ready to squat and lunge with weights yet. Maybe by next time...

Workout:

squat - 2 x bodyweight x 15

static lunge - 2 x bodyweight x 15
two point dumbbell row - 2 x 10 lbs x 15

push up - 2 x 15
swiss ball crunch - 2 x 20

Food:

  • coffee w/ Splenda & French vanilla creamer
  • granola bar & peanut butter crackers
  • Subway - chicken bacon ranch melt & chocolate chip cookie

Turbo Jam Fat Blaster

I didn't spend the entire day dreading this workout. I actually kind of looked forward to it. Fat Blaster is one of my favorites. I didn't care much for it being half hour long, as I still feel like I'm an out of shape twat. And I despise working out on carpet :(

Again, I didn't bring my lunch to work. I got home too late last night and had to leave too early this morning to figure out what I wanted and prepare/pack it. I did manage to make healthy choices. Yay me.

Food:

  • coffee w/ Splenda & French vanilla creamer
  • almonds, cheese & hummus w/ pretzel chips
  • pulled pork sandwich & sweet potato
  • meatballs - I was still hungry after dinner

NROL Break In B

I could have worked out this morning before work, but it was freezing and I wanted to stay in bed and read. So I got to dread it all day.

And I didn't pack my lunch. Or take coffee to work.

Workout:

deadlift - 2 x 65 lbs x15

step up - 2 x bodyweight x 15
dumbbell one arm shoulder press - 2 x 10 lbs x 15

close grip lat pulldown - 2 x purple band x 15
reverse crunch - 2 x bodyweight x 15

Food:

  • coffee w/ Splenda & French vanilla creamer
  • granola bars
  • potato bacon chowder
  • pulled pork sandwich & clam chowder - I really debated whether or not I needed the bun. I did eat it, and immediately felt guilty

Turbo Jam 20 Minute Workout

Another day of dreading having to come home and exercise. Fortunately, it was quick. I pulled my right hamstring a little because I was wearing socks, no shoes. I have to find my indoor shoes.

Food:
  • coffee w/ Splenda and fresh vanilla creamer
  • meatballs - just plain old meatballs
  • salad w/ ranch dressing, baby carrots
  • eggs, English muffin w/ butter

NROL Break In A

Again, I wasn't looking forward to working out. Luckily, it was all stuff I could do while watching season 3 of Wentworth. And since it was my first workout in years, I went with bodyweight only for the squats and lunges. But I really focused on form!

Workout:

squat - 2 x bodyweight x 15

static lunge - 2 x bodyweight x 15
two point dumbbell row - 2 x 10 lbs x 15

push up - 2 x 15
swiss ball crunch - 2 x 20

It doesn't look like much but I wanted to throw up when I finished.

Food:
  • coffee w/ Splenda & French vanilla creamer
  • beef jerky
  • carrots
  • steak w/ sweet potato & salad
  • English muffin w/ jelly
Oh, and I packed my lunch for tomorrow: salad, raw vegetables, meatballs. And some granola bars to keep in my desk.

Turbo Jam 20 Minute Workout

When I woke up this morning, the first thing to pop into my head was "Ugh, I have to work out later." Even though Turbo Jam 20 Minute Workout is short and one of my favorites (not because it is short), I had several moments of "It's okay if I'm fat and out of shape." It makes me sad that I used to love working out and now I would rather be flayed. I'm really hoping that I can push myself for a few weeks until I get my eagerness back.

I'm not tracking my calories burned during cardio. I was going to, but my heart rate monitor doesn't work and I really didn't feel like spending $200+ on a new one. While it would be nice to know how much I'm burning, it isn't going to affect anything - I'll burn what I burn. I get obsessive about numbers. I don't have time for all this logging and blogging as it is. I had to finish yesterday's post on my Kindle Fire because I hardly ever turn my laptop on anymore. I can get my posts started from work (I actually work in an office now, so my overall energy expenditure has decreased somewhat from last year when I was serving school lunch and working with elementary kids all afternoon). The advantages of this new job (that I've been working for 9 months) are that I'm not exposed to horrible, free food and I actually rarely get hungry while I'm at work, I don't usually get hungry until mid-late afternoon and I know I'm making terrible choices by grabbing something from the vending machine. Bringing a decent lunch/snack from home is something I need to work on.

Food:

  • coffee w/ Splenda & french vanilla creamer
  • kettle cooked wasabi ginger potato chips - these things are amazing
  • meatballs - I needed protein after my workout
  • buffalo chicken stuffed potato skins
  • cheesecake

And yes, I did my cardio. It's amazing that my body remembered the moves after all this time. And I hate myself for not being able to do it the way I used to.

2016 Fit Test 1

So my lame ass is back. I spent the last week putting together a year-long workout schedule, after spending two months trying to decide what to do. I'm doing New Rules of Lifting for Women (again) and Lou's new program, Strong. I mapped them out and both of them together would have taken me into early November. To stretch it out a bit, I'm adding the original New Rules of Lifting program's Break In workouts at the beginning and the end. I have a fabulous spreadsheet on my Google Drive   that is going to keep all my stats for every workout neatly in one place.

I guess today is measurements day. I'm only taking two, and only one of them I really care about. Weight, which I don't give two shits about, is 154 pounds. Not as bad as I thought. The measurement I do care about is that damn distance around my midsection. You know the one, where the belly sticks out/hangs and the love handles jiggle, That region spans a girthy 42.25 inches around. Blech. That's the number I care about, the one I want to go down.

So what's in store for today? You surely don't think I am going to kick things off with pumping iron, do you? Oh hell no. Gotta ease back into that shit. Today is Shaun T's Insanity Fit Test. And maybe the Performance Assessment from Insanity: The Asylum. I don't know if I can do both of them in one day. That's 40 minutes of hell. Okay, it's really only 20 minutes of actual work but I haven't worked in years. And tomorrow, to sort of keep my spirits up, will be Turbo Jam 20 Minute Workout. On Sunday I hit the weights.

What about nutrition? The bane of my existence. As my good bitch-friend, Melty, will tell you, I hate measuring and tracking my food. I considered using MyFitnessPal but I highly doubt I have the time, energy, or inclination to log my food.  I don't mind jotting it down here, but there's no way I'm going to obsess over every ounce. I want to do Weight Watcher's Simply Filling Technique, but I don't really have a convenient way to track the shit that's not a Power Food. Well, I'm sure I could figure out a way but, again - lazy! And now I see they just rolled out an entirely new points system, and I'm not going to waste my energy trying to pirate the information. There is a Weight Watchers around the corner from my apartment, but not only am I lazy, I am cheap. Plus, I know what I'm fucking doing. I don't really think joining will help me. I'm a loner.

Ok, Fit Test results:

Switch Kicks - 84
Power Jacks - 34
Power Knees - 85
Power Jumps - 5
Globe Jumps - 4
Suicide Jumps - 10
Push Up Jacks - 1/2 - Yes, a half.
Low Plank Obliques - 12

I was miserable by the time I finished the power knees.  My head hurt and I was very dehydrated. So this fit test sucked. Needless to say, I didn't do the Performance Assessment. I'll save that for 2017's Shaun T Challenge.

Food:
  • Coffee w/ Splenda and French vanilla creamer - This is one thing I won't give up. Ever.
  • Sausage burritos (2) and hash brown from McDonald's - Not a good choice, I know
  • English muffin w/ jelly - This was the most delicious thing I'd eaten all day and wanted another. Unfortunately, I was out of jelly. How am I going to lose weight if all I want is English muffins with jelly???
  • Spaghetti w/ meatballs
  • Cheerios
Meh. Not the first day I wanted.
